In many IT shops we’ve have a deal worked out with a distributor and were certain to get the right power supplies for our models as they knew exactly what we had. However, being an IT shop we got a discount and quite frankly when most people need a replacement they’re looking for the most economical solution. Thankfully today there’s a lot more options. If you want to cut on your expenses and choose something that can be used for many other devices possibly, a good option is universal power supplies. They are not as expensive as the original manufacturer’s power supply but can work just as effectively. However, always make sure the universal adapter you choose is compatible with the voltage or make and model of your Lenovo. Check your old power supply adapter and note the voltage listed on it. Make sure to find a power supply that has the same voltage as what your laptop requires.
No matter what your choice is, always check out the warranty to make sure that purchasing a replacement from an unauthorized dealer or universal adapter won’t void the warranty. This isn’t usually the case as long as the replacement is listed to be compatible with your model but it’s always good to check.
