The battery is one of the most important components that makeup the system consisting of your Gateway laptop power supply. Although many argue the most important parts of these electronic gadgetries, without power nothing works! A newly bought laptop battery usually comes in a discharged condition. As with most chargeable battery operated devices, these batteries usually come un-charged when you first purchase them and it’s important to give them a good full charge before first use. When you are charging your battery for the first time, don’t be surprised if you see that the process is complete after just a few minutes. This is normal for rechargeable batteries. What you have to do is unplug it and repeat the charging procedure. Batteries such as this should be stored at their fully charged state. They can do the discharging process on their own. The Gateway laptop battery manual clearly states that it should be conditioned by the charging cycle every two to three weeks. Also, if the battery is not used for a month or so then you should make sure to store it in a dry, cool, and clean place. It should not remain inserted in the device for that will affect the condition of both devices.
Although the battery is just one of the components that make up Gateway laptop power supplies, it should be given adequate importance. It pays to invest in a good charger too. Cheap charges may also shorten the lifespan of the battery. Lastly, you shouldn’t store the battery in hot and humid areas.
