A USB data transfer cable is a good option for transferring data from one computer to another. The cable connects through two USB ports – one on each laptop. Every laptop owner or user has encountered this problem at one time or another—you pug the power cord in, only to see that the characteristic plug icon, which indicates that the laptop is on AC power, is not appearing on your system tray. This often causes some users to go into frenzy in order to find out why this is happening. After all, if your laptop does not charge, your battery eventually runs out and you could lose important data as a result. Here are some of the most common reasons for a laptop battery not charging.

Plugged in, not charging

One of the first steps you can take to make sure the battery is the actual problem is the battery.  If you put your mouse cursor over the battery icon (normally located on the bottom right hand corner of the screen) and it says “plugged in but not charging” then you might actually have a software problem instead of a battery problem. Is there heat?

Other Reasons For A Laptop Battery Not Charging

Dead battery

This is the most common cause of a laptop battery not charging. If you have noticed that you needed to recharge your laptop battery more often, or if you were in the habit of keeping your battery attached to the laptop even when on AC power, you may have a dead battery on your hands. Laptop is not plugged in

• The home interface is pretty much typical of what you would expect for a small laptop or tablet: nice, simple, and complete. It has all the basic buttons that you need if you want to explore, browse something or change a few settings.

• Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 10 has been totally redesigned to maximize your tablet experience, having adapted the style and look of some of the other popular web browsers. The stripped down and simplified menus are even hidden by default to maximize web page screen size.

• The right swipe gesture still brings up the “charms” menu, which holds basic buttons such as search, devices, settings and the traditional start button. The left swipe gesture also gives the same page flipping and app switching command as it does in previous Windows 8 builds.

• Three types of default keyboards are available, the standard full keyboard, the split-screen keyboard, and the all-around Metro keyboard. The key input system is guided by a spell checker, regardless of where you are typing within the OS.

• The newly added semantic zoom option allows the user to shrink down the user interface by pinching the screen. It is very useful if you wish to navigate easily to a specific part of the interface (of an app for example).

• As a bonus, it is also the first operating system (version) that would natively support USB 3.0. Plugging your new USB 3.0 thumbdrive can now be as intuitive as when you plug it into your regular USB 3.0 supported Windows 7 desktop machine.

• With the special Windows to Go feature, you can basically have your Windows 8 OS stored in a USB drive, to be booted completely on virtually any kind of device (as if that device was its native machine). The feature uses the high-speed data transfer rates of USB 3.0 to create a seamless working experience with any device that has the supported port.

Windows 8 is currently designed to be used efficiently both within a tablet computer and as your standard desktop OS. While this sounds very convenient, it might actually confuse a few people who aren’t too accustomed with that much “bulk” functionality.

• USB flash drive accessory: If you don’t want to buy a new external DVD or CD drive, then you might be interested in acquiring a USB flash drive accessory.
