Looking for laptop power supplies? Well there may be a lot more places or options than you originally thought of. When shopping online for your power supplies, you’ll want to make sure you’re getting the correct supply for your model, wattage, and power input. Even if you’re thinking about a universal laptop power supply, and planning to use it for different mobile devices, there are some choices to consider.

One of the better sites, in our opinion, to get some good deals on laptop power supplies is this page on Geeks.com. They have pretty much every type you can need, mostly universal style but you should be able to find the wattage (mostly 90V) and compatibility you need.

Let’s look at some of the power adapters they have listed over there that you need to check out. NOW, keep in mind what we’ve said throughout this site concerning refurbished laptop power supplies. You can save a lot of cash on these and most often they’ll even come with a warranty and garauntee.

Like this one, the Targus APD45USZ 70W Universal Notebook Auto DC Adapter for Dell. The have this guy listed at $9.99 refurbished! That’s an incredible deal. Supplies are limited over though so you better hurry. This universal notebook adapter will work will Dell notebooks: XPS, Precision, Latitude, and Inspiron. So if you have a Dell, which I have an XPS and I’ll be getting one of these just in case! Get on over there!

Now here’s another good deal, the Kensington 33192 Notebook AC Power Adapter. They’re listing this one $12.99 refurbished. And check this out, it even comes with a 1 year direct warranty, we told you this refurbished power supplies were a great deal. You really can’t go wrong with these refurbished deals. Even if the power supply fails, you’re still saving money if you have to buy two more! So what’s the specs on this Kensington adapter: 70W AC which is (claims) to be enough power for most standard notebooks. Again, you’ll want to look at the back of your current power supply to make sure the wattage is comparable. Input is 100 – 120 Volts and 1.3A, 200 – 240 V / 08.A 60/50 Hz. One great thing about this Kensington model is it claims to be 40 % lighter and a lot smaller than most other chargers. Smaller and lighter is always good right!

Now for a universal laptop power supply, check out this 80W Universal Auto DC Adapter that comes with 8 tips. This one sales for new and is $13.99. The great thing about these universal ones, is the tips can be used with most laptop brands. This is 80 Watts and is DC regulated power to work in your car. Although this adapter doesn’t specify which notebooks or laptops it will work with, again, check on the back of your current power supply to see what the voltage requirements are. Although it claims to work with “most” notebooks, you’ll want to do some due diligence on your own to make sure it is compatible. But even at this price you really can’t go wrong.

Great deals are out there on these power supplies as well as resources on notebook repair, you just need to keep looking and as always, we here at BestLaptopPowerSupply.com will keep looking around for these great deals to bring you. Thanks for stopping by and happy shopping!

There are several options when looking for either a backup or replacement hp power cord. We’ll look at a few of your options here and what you can expect to pay.

First things first, there used to be a lot of concern about getting your laptop power cord from the same manufacturer as your laptop, that somehow you’ll damage your laptop if you don’t, that’s just not the case anymore. There are a lot of universal laptop power supplies out there that will work with all make and models of laptops and notebooks including Hp; which brings us to our first option for your Hp laptop power cord, a universal power supply.

You can find a universal laptop power supply that fits about any laptop, and this includes your HP. But, the one thing you’ll want to make sure of is, that the universal adapter comes with the right tip for your Hp laptop. With that said, the one good thing about the universal type power supply is you can use it for a lot of other things as well. Oddly enough, many of the universal adapters are cheaper than most brand power supplies for their respective notebooks. However, they do seem cheaply made but will work for power. Plus you have the added pain of having to use the correct tip, changing tips, and all the stuff that goes with that. You can expect to pay around $20 for a universal adapter which is pretty cheap.

You’re next options is actually getting a specific HP laptop power cord. For example the HP KG298AA 90W Smart Pin Dongle Laptop AC Adapter which sales on walmart.com for $59.84. As you can see, it’s a lot more expensive than the universal power cord but again you know what you’re getting and don’t have to fuss around with finding the right tip. Of course this is a 90w power supply and you’ll want to make sure you get one that is the correct wattage for your Hp notebook. The best place to find out the wattage you need is to look on the back of your current power cord or owners manual of your notebook.

As far as we’re concerned, the best option is to pick up a refurbished laptop power cord. As we’ve mentioned many times on this site, refurbished power cords are just as good as originals in most cases. Many retailers even still carry the manufacture’s warranty on the power cord. We’ve seen refurbished hp laptop power cords for as low as $10 on some sites so it pays to look around. One GREAT option, especially if you’re looking ONLY FOR the CORD part of the power supply, is a local computer repair shop. Many local businesses sale off all their depreciated equipment and you may be able to pickup just the cord section (that uses the smart pin to plug into the actual power supply) for little or nothing.

Those are just a few ideas to think about when looking for a power cord for your Hp laptop.

With all the options out there available to us now days for powering our mobile devices, finding the right replacement or backup laptop power cord can be a daunting task. Here are some suggestions or ideas on how to find the right one for your mobile needs and that works with your model of laptop or notebook.

Getting the Correct Wattage

The most important thing is that the power cord you get for your laptop is rated for the correct wattage for your laptop. Most laptops these days work on 90 w power adapters, which means you’ll want to make sure your cord or adapter is 90w. With that said, there are exceptions to this rule and it’s impossible to list all the possible models and wattage variations here, the best place to find this information is on the back of your current laptop power cord or adapter. Well, if you’re here because you need a replacement and you lost yours, well, then you should check your owner’s manual. If you can’t do that, there are some pretty good tools online for finding the correct wattage. One cool page, which will tell you what adapter you actually need, is this page. Just select your brand and them model and it will list up the power cords you need for your specific laptop.

We talk a lot about universal supplies on this site, why? Because they’re cheap and really handy as you can use them for all sort of mobile devices not just as your laptop power cord. So that’s always an option as well.

Can I replace JUST the laptop power cord and not the entire adapter?

If you’ve lost or damaged just the power cord, meaning probably the part that has smart two pin connection or even the cord itself attached to the adapter is damaged; yes you can. The best places to start are searching online for refurbished power supplies and see if they have just the cord itself. This is probably not your best option since most places won’t want to separate the adapter from the cord as then they don’t have a complete unit to sell. Now, that’s not to say they won’t do it or that they don’t have some bad adapters but good cords. The problem here is, you’re more likely to pay about the same amount as you would if you just purchased the entire power cord. So you’ll have to weigh your options. Again, another great resource is your local computer store and see if they happen to have any lying around that will work for your adapter and cord combination. You may even get lucky and they’ll give it to you.

You may be able to repair the cord yourself. I have done this on a few occasions with other power cords but never with a laptop power cord. I’m sure it can’t be any different you just have to make sure you use the right gauged wire. Although personally, I probably wouldn’t attempt this; it’s not a big deal if you burn up a lamp but to damage a laptop is a little more… well, bad.

Aren’t laptops supposed to be mobile? That’s right, so lets look at the laptop car power supply. There are several things to keep in mind when looking for a laptop power supply for your vehicle. Most vehicles these days come with the extra 12 volt cigarette lighter for powering mobile devices. It’s actually quite nice now and its about time they got on the band wagon with all the mobile devices out there now requiring power.

The 12Volt outlets provide approximately 90 watts of power which is pretty common for most laptop power supplies. The basic premise is you need to get the 12 volt car battery to power your laptop. Pretty simple huh? Most of us have used the adapter that converts the cigarette lighter plug into a normal two pronged outlet like you see inside your house. Actually I used one of these for years powering all sort of devices. They’re sure handy, but they can be a real pain and most take up quite a bit of room. The nice things about these however is that they can be used for almost anything that needs mobile power. Note that your vehicles power supply may be 24 volts also as in some utility vehicles and trucks. So make sure if you’re getting a laptop car power supply you’re getting it for the right voltage.

Most laptop car power supplies or laptop car charger will come with various tips (as with the universal laptop power supply) that will fit most any laptops. For example the Targus PAPWR200U Universal Car/Airplane Notebook Power Adapter shown here comes with various tips that are said to work with HP, Toshiba, Compaq, Gateway, Dell, IBM, Sony and several others. Regardless of which car power supply you decide on purchasing, it’s a good idea to check the return policy and/or the laptop models to make sure its compatible.

You should note the voltage on the back of your current power supply to make sure the universal supply you purchase will provide the correct amount of power. If your car adapter has a voltage selection switch on it, you need to make sure it matches the right voltage or you may damage your laptop.

Many vehicles will continue to send power to the 12 volt outlet even when the engine is turned off. Some adapter will not continually draw power but it’s a good idea to unplug the you ac adapter or laptop power supply when the engine is not running. This will help keep it from running the battery down if it continues to draw power from the battery. If you do need to power your laptop with the engine off, try to keep it well under an hour to avoid draining enough power from the battery that may keep your vehicle from starting.

Toshiba has long been one of the big players in the notebook and mobile computer arena. As with any laptop, there comes a time when you may need a replacement or even a backup laptop power supply. Today we are going to look at the Toshiba Global AC Adapter.

This adapter can be used with certain (most) Toshiba laptops and according to the manufacturer, it exceeds or meets the specifications of the AC adapter which ships with the Toshiba notebook. There are actually two versions of this adapter we’ve seen around the internet. One is the 65W adapter and the other one is the 120W. The 120W is reported to work with PAACA004, PA3080U-1ACA, G71C0002A110, P000382120, PA3080U and Portege 4000, 4005, and 4010. The 60W adapter is reported to work with Satellite series models M30X and M35X.

The 65W version lists anywhere from $10 (used) to $90 new. Whereas the 120W adapter price ranges from $26 to $87.

Most review on this AC adapter seems to be overwhelmingly good. Most purchased as a replacement for the power adapter which shipped with their Toshiba laptop or notebook. One of the things we really like about this adapter is the long cord.

Be sure to read the specifications for the power supply or laptop charger you decide to purchase. According to our research, the 120W model has a universal power input (100/240V) which means it can be used pretty much anywhere in the world. Really nice for the serious traveler.

It’s always a good idea to have a second or backup laptop power supply. If you can pick a used one up for a good price, its handy to have one at work and at home. This keeps you from having to lug the power adapter back and forth and lightening the load in your laptop bag.

One thing we always like to point out is the great deals you can get on refurbished power supplies and laptop parts. Don’t be afraid to purchase a refurbished product but make sure you read the retailers return policy and that they clearly state whether or not it is refurbished.

Whether your looking for a Toshiba laptop power supply or a universal AC adapter, be sure to look around the internet and don’t be fooled into thinking you have to purchase your mobile power supply from the manufacturer.

Often when buying a laptop, the power supply is the last thing you may think of. However, like any accessory, laptop power supplies are easy to lose. Then what do you do? You have to have one right?

Even though these power supplies come in many different types and models, most generally, if you get the right voltage for your laptop, the replacement will work fine. Most people think they have to get the manufactures power supply or it could cause damage to their laptop. This is not necessarily true and no matter what brand of laptop you have, you should be able to find a replacement power supply online much cheaper than you could at a local store or directly through the dealer.

Where and how you purchase a replacement or extra laptop power supply can be different depending on which type of laptop you have. Many times, it is not as easy as just going to your local electronics or computer store. Most often, you will need to go directly to the retailer of your individual laptop maker. This can be extremely expensive.

It is possible to find replacement power supplies online for all the major brands of laptops. You may want to check your manufacturers warranty to make sure it does not have specific language concerning certain power supplies.

It is always a good idea to know where to purchase a backup or extra AC adapter for your laptop. There are many resources online to purchase your next laptop power adapter. Alternatively, these resources can save you a lot of money. So before you automatically order a replacement power supply directly from your laptop dealer or go to your local store, try searching online for the best deal. So the next time you need a power supply for your laptop, check out the web and we’ll help you find the best deal out there!

Another thing to remember is that many times online sites are selling refurbished laptop power supplies or AC adapters along with refurbished laptops or other products. Even though they may be refurbished, the products themselves are many times still good. Many large corporations depreciate their laptops and older office equipment (desktop PC’s, notebooks, power adapters, etc.) and end up selling them to outside entities. These outside companies can then resell these products as refurbished or use them for replacement parts; which, if needed, is a way to get just the laptop power cord. So just because the notebook adapter or power supply might be old, it may still be in good working condition. Make sure when purchasing from an online vendor or store you know what you’re getting. And even though it may be a refurbished power supply, the online store may offer some type of limited warranty. So don’t be afraid to purchase a refurbished product.

There’s also something else to keep in mind, external laptop power supplies or external batteries. You’ll also find that universal laptop power supply is possible to find. One myth is that you have to have the exact power supply from the maker of your laptop. This is not the case anymore with many third-party vendors making laptop power supplies that are universal. Most come with a collection of tips that fit many different types of AC adapters.

When purchasing an HP laptop power supply, it’s important to determine which laptop model you have. Although many universal laptop power supply’s say they work with HP, there’s a lot of different HP/Compaq Laptop and notebook models.

The 30W AC Adapter is pretty small in wattage compared to some of the 90 WATT power supply’s we’ve looked at. The reason? It is, made for the Compaq Mini 700 series or the HP Mini 1000 series notebook PC.

If you have an HP Pavilion or Compaq Presario, this AC Adapter will not work!

What we like about this notebook power supply however is that it has a built in surge protector. This is a really nice feature for people who travel a lot.

Most who purchased this adapter loved it, and really loved the price! At around $40 at most online retailers, the clone of this model directly from HP (according to reviews) is around $100! What a great savings of $60! You could almost get two of these for the price of one. Keep one at the office or in the car and the other one at home.

HP 65W AC Adapter

This HP 65W Laptop Power Adapter will work with any HP laptop which requires 65W of power. Ok, that’s pretty obvious huh? Ok, tell us something we don’t know right?

Well, if you search the internet looking for power adapters, you’re going to find a lot that do not say exactly what model of notebooks or laptops they come with. It’s best to call the company and talk to someone who can recommend one of their power supplies. But even then, there are a lot of bait and switch scams which you can find on the internet also. Your best bet is to find one that says it will work exclusively with your HP or Compaq model number.

Once you find the HP laptop adapter or universal laptop power supply you think will work at a reasonable price, do a good search on the internet for customer review forums. I have found a lot of online retailers who are basically nothing but a bait and switch scam. They advertise cheap products, then when you order, they say it’s on back order and to call them. Once they get you on the phone, they try and sell you something else. Most of the time they didn’t even have the product advertised in the first place.

This laptop power supply is one of the cheapest deals we’ve seen out there. Claiming to be universal, comes with a package of 8 different connector tips to fit with any notebook, netbook, or laptop. It appear to live up to its claim. Let’s take a look at it’s specifications and features:

Features/Specifications:

Universal 90w DC (car) Adapter Tips

LED Display (you don’t see this on too many)

Compatible with popular notebook and laptop models

8 connectors to fit different models

Cigarette lighter connector

15-24 V output

Case is made of strong fire-proofing material

Designed specifically to reduce static

12-15 V, 12A Input

15-24 V, 6 A (maximum) output 90 WATTS

Tips: HP, Compaq, Delta, NEC, Toshiba, Acer, Liteon, NEC, Gateway, IBM, Samsung, Sony, Fujitsu, Sony

This DC adapter (universal) can power and charge notebook and laptop computers through your car or trucks cigarette lighter socket. It would be great to get rid of all those misc power adapters for all occasions.

This is probably the cheapest universal adapter that we have seen. We’ve found it for around $20 on most sites.

Reviews of this laptop power supply or AC adapter (whatever you want to call it) are mixed. Some say this product worked fine, (and that’s all they said) but most seem to find that the adapter pins do not fit their laptops.

We would definitely recommend doing your research on this product to make sure it will fit your laptop or notebook. Many say the design and materials are cheap as well. It is hard to imagine something priced this cheap could be of significant quality and claim to be the all-inclusive mobile power solution.

For the life of us, we cannot find a significant brand name on this item, it just appears everywhere as 90W Universal Car Notebook DC Adapter Power Supply. There are similar products listed on most sites, some under the brand name Ritmo, but they’re generally $20-$30 higher in price. The reviews on this product were fairly hard to find also. Due to that fact alone, we would probably steer away from this product.

With that said, if you get free shipping and want to take the chance with this product, it could save you a significant amount of money. However, you may be better off finding a refurbished ac adapter or power supply for your specific laptop or notebook and purchasing an adapter for your vehicle. Sure this is going to cost you a lot more, but the car adapter can be used for other power devices as well, like a travel printer.

Many think that in battery that comes with your laptop is the only source of power when not connected directly to a traditional wall jack. However, there are many other was of providing your laptop with external power or in extending the life of mobile laptop power. On average, laptop battery life lasts around 90 minutes, which isn’t much time when trying to get some serious work done. So what options does one have for extending the life and time of the laptop when on the go?

One option is to use an external laptop battery as your laptop power supply. Since the connection and wattage is not contingent on the type of laptop for these external batteries, they work for any laptop. Meaning, they are universal and work for most major brands such as Dell, Lenovo, IBM, HP, Gateway, Acer, Sony, etc.

A good external laptop battery or laptop charger can extend the life of your laptop to as many as 10 hours in some cases (depending on the batter you chose and the amount of juice your particular laptop requires).

Another positive aspect of the external batteries to provide laptop power supply is they are comparatively lightweight. Usually weighing between 1.6 up to 3.3 pounds. Although light in weight, they can be fairly expensive ranging from $150 to $500. One thing to remember however, that is these external sources of laptop power can provide power to many different devices such as mp3 players, mobile phones, PDA, or many other hand-held devices. Therefore, even though the price may be high, you are really getting several external power sources for your money.

Being lightweight, these external batteries can be carried in you laptop or touchscreen tablet bag ready to provide extra power for those long business flights. There is nothing more frustrating then running out of laptop power when you’re right in the middle of important work. External laptop batteries do not need drivers or software to be loaded on your laptop and can use your current laptops AC plug (using different tips usually provided with the batter).

Using external batter power as your laptop power supply can help you get the most use out of your laptop. After all, isn’t that why you purchased a laptop? To be able to use it anywhere? Don’t worry about running out of power in the middle of important work, get an extra backup with an external laptop power supply and battery to keep in your laptop bag. Whether you use or notebook exclusively on the go or you have it setup with a docking station or laptop computer stand, having an extra source of power such as external batter keeps you covered in case of a power outage.

Obviously you do have to charge these batteries. Charging time is usually quicker than re-charging your laptops internal battery which is another nice feature.
